Use music to structure social interaction

  • This video shows how music can provide the structure for call and response activities, and turn-taking activities. For example, when music is involved, its simple structure makes it easy for people to know when it is their turn.

    • Organise games that involve taking turns, e.g. the ‘carry on singing the tune’ challenge

    • Play imitation games, e.g. take turns to copy the musical contribution (such as short rhythms) of each resident in the group

    • Do call and response activities E.g. where one person sings/plays alone, before everyone elsejoins in
