Encourage residents to dance

  • This video was filmed at Cinnamon Group care homes: Leah Lodge, Blackheath, Eden Court, Battersea and Dalemead, Twickenham.

It shows the pleasure that some residents get from dancing. We see a good example of someone dancing whilst sitting.

    • Incorporate dance into music sessions wherever appropriate; remember that wanting to move is a natural reaction to music

    • Introduce different styles and genres from across residents’ lifespans and cultures

    • Consider dancing as a group with carers and visitors too, and with participation at different levels E.g. some could sit and wave a ribbon

    • Remember that wheelchair dancing is possible and may be appreciated by some residents. Allow plenty of room
