Help residents to know where and when things are occurring through using music systematically

  • This video shows how music can be used to give residents a sense of place and time, helping them to understand when and where things are happening.

Filmed at Eden Court, Battersea, London (Cinnamon Group).

    • Play specific pieces of music quietly in the background when in rooms associated with particular activities (such as the dining room) to strengthen the resident’s sense of where they are

    • Use Sounds of Reference such as a doorbell with a particular sound so that residents have a better sense of where they are going

    • Use Sounds of Reference associated with specific rooms to improve understanding of where the residents are going next.

    • Use Sounds of Reference like a ‘memory calendar’ of sounds to reflect on the day’s or week’s events
